When Is A Wood A Wood

Quite often a legal case hangs on a technicality.  For centuries people have been asking, what is a tree? what constitutes a wood?  Is a single tree in a woodland important?


 Case law defines these technicalities and recently a case between a developer and a local authority hinged on the developers arguing that a woodland TPO was not correct as the trees growing on a disused wharf could not constitute a true woodland.
